Do you have a strength training practice? Have you ever in the past? If not, is it something that interests you now? Having a strong body makes a world of difference in how well it feels and functions on a daily basis. It also makes a huge difference in how well the tissues respond to massage.

Besides the physical effects, another benefit of having a strength training practice is that the actions you do daily (that discipline and willingness to do what’s hard) will transfer into other areas of your life. Your career, your relationships and your personal goals. You will find that your willingness to do what’s hard there will increase.

One of my self-care coaching clients came to work with me because she wanted desperately to progress in her career but was feeling stuck and held back by low self-esteem and confidence. We started with getting her to develop an exercise routine which challenged her along with other things like mental hygiene. After only 6 weeks, she found herself taking some steps in her job which she had been avoiding for years, and she is so excited because these steps will move her forward. Her confidence is slowly but surely increasing. I’ve also seen this in many of my massage clients who have taken up strength training.

Our bodies, minds and emotions are all connected, and the easiest way to shift all of them is to change the body. Tony Robbins talks about this all the time; “Change your state!”

A few years ago I went from working out 2 days per week to 5 days per week, and it was an absolute game-changer! I finally chose out of a dead-end marriage, began my dream of owning a wellness center, got my finances in order and invested heavily into my personal and business development.

Do you feel stuck anywhere? Maybe it’s just in the way you can move your body. Maybe it’s in your career path. Maybe it’s on your life path. Whatever it may be, a strength-training discipline will help move it along! (Not to mention the investment it is into your older self’s physical well-being.)
